Andover is a town on the far west side of Essex County. As of 2010, the census reported a population of 33,201. The town center is located approximately four miles south of the center of Lawrence, and is 22 miles north of Boston. Neighboring towns include Lawrence to the north, North Andover to the northeastern North Reading and Wilmington to the south, and Tewksbury to the southwest. Andover is the location of the crossing of I-93 and I-495. The town is also served by routes 28, 133, and 125. The MBTA provides two rail stops in Andover, the MVRTA provides bus service to mostly the north end of town, and the nearest airports are Lawrence Municipal, Logan in Boston, and Manchester-Boston Regional in Manchester, New Hampshire. Andover education includes six elementary schools, three middle schools, a high school, and a technical high school. There are four private schools, and one college, the Massachusetts School of Law. Andover is also home to the Harold Parker State Forest, the Charles W. Ward Reservation, the Harold R. Rafton Reservation, the Deer Jump Reservation (along the banks of the Merrimack), as well as a very small portion of Lawrence's Den Rock Park. The town also has several golf courses.
